weekly menu:: week 20

i remember finals week in college.  the stress i felt during that week that we had tests and projects due.  staying up late, cramming, finishing the term paper.  and when the last thing was done, going home and crashing, feeling like i was going to be sick.  wanting to sleep for days and just drained of energy.

i'm feeling the same thing right now.  after "the craziest week ever" i am all out of energy.  the kids came home from their trips on friday,  so excited to share what they had seen and experienced.  they were tired (and needed a shower).

saturday i went to the pasadena showcase house with a dear friend.  thanks mari!  it's our 2nd year going together.  designers take a home and completely transform it from the inside out.  this home had the most amazing gardens, a lovely kitchen and a spectacular pool and outdoor eating space.  we wanted to bring home one ounce of inspiration and transform something in our house.  i'll be on craig's list this week looking to score some treasures.

the weekend ended with an all american baseball game to celebrate andrew's birthday.  thanks everyone for joining in the fun.  now will someone please come and take this large bucket of licorice away before i eat it?

a few things to note:

  • "our" oprah episode will be on this thursday.  so make sure to tune in or tivo it.  we were seated to the left of the stage in the first row.
  • we also saw her tape some intros to her  interview with james frey, part 2.  that will air on tuesday.
  • i will do a post on our chicago trip on thursday.  but i can't talk about the episode until it airs (we signed a confidentiality agreement).  so my friday post will be all oprah.
and finally, our menu.  looks like i only have to cook 3 nights this week.  and wednesday andrew has a baseball game so i'm making it easy on myself.

monday - nephew's birthday.  dinner at their house.
wednesday - Costco chicken, mac and cheese, salad
thursday - salmon with avocado remoulade, grilled asparagus
friday - having dinner at the kids' school festival
saturday - bridal shower - dinner on the road
sunday - spring festival at sofia's school - going out to dinner with friends

have a great monday.
