love is in the air

and on our front door.

love hearts, love glitter, love red.  valentine's day is the perfect holiday for me to show some of the off.  here's what were doing to celebrate

jars of love
i love elizabeth kartchner's heart jars and wanted to do the same.

the mason jars are filled with candy hearts and swizzlers, glass hearts and a 5 of hearts playing card, plastic, paper and glitter hearts.  i also plan on leaving out an empty jar to fill with valentine cards,  pictures and the little hearts that will inevitably come home over the next few days.

i love the idea of decorating with mason jars.  can you imagine them filled with punched flowers, butterflies, jelly beans and easter eggs for spring.  red, white and blue glass beads, stars, and flags for the patriotic holidays.  the possibilities are endless.

we don't have a mantle, so i put these on a bookshelf in our living room.

i am planning on making the heart garland as well to hang from the shelf.  and i think i need some pictures on that wall .  .  .

"i ❤ u" frame

i bought this frame at marshall's a few years ago after christmas.  and i hadn't filled it until now.  i used some letter stickers and punched the heart out of some self stick glitter paper.  i also added an instax picture of the kids to the jar with more glass beads.  and of course my recent mini book.

treats for teacher
i hope none of them are reading this.  you can guess what we are making, right?

but i plan on making these bags to put them in.  just a little something to make it special.

pink playdough
i like this recipe for playdough.  it's the one they use at the preschool.

but to make it even better i added some wilton's food coloring for a more intense pink, a few drops of cherry candy flavoring so it smells good, and pink glitter to make it shiny.  that last addition pretty much ensures that my 9 year old son won't be playing with it.  which means i will have to make another batch in another color.  good thing it's easy to do.

there are endless ideas out there.
